Promoting Housing Equity in San Diego with AREAA: A Community Event on Policy, Access, and Solutions

Daniel Tromello

Conversations about housing in San Diego are no longer theoretical. Families are being priced out, policies are shifting fast, and entire communities are feeling the impact. AREAA San Diego’s upcoming Housing Policy Event arrives at a time when conversations about equity and access need to turn into shared understanding and action for the people who live and work here.

On October 15 from 5 to 8 PM, AREAA San Diego will host a free, in-person housing policy event at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. The evening will bring together local leaders, elected officials, housing experts, and real estate professionals to talk honestly about what’s happening in San Diego’s housing market and where we go from here.

Daniel, founder of REsolve, will be attending as both a speaker and a sponsor. His involvement comes from a deep commitment to the people and neighborhoods he serves. The values driving this event reflect the same focus that guides REsolve’s work: equity, access, and community investment.

With speakers like Mayor Todd Gloria and Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel, this event brings policy and community into the same room. Whether you work in housing, care about affordability, or want to understand how decisions are being made, this is a space to listen, connect, and be part of something that affects all of us.

Everyone Has a Stake in Housing Equity

Housing equity is not a niche issue. It affects the families we work with, the neighborhoods we live in, and the future of this city. Whether someone is trying to stay in their home, buy their first one, or pass something on to their kids, access to housing and ownership shapes every part of that process.

At REsolve, we work directly with people navigating those questions. We see the pressure that homeowners feel when prices rise and policies shift. We hear from buyers who are doing everything right but still struggling to get in. These aren’t one-off stories. They reflect patterns that are baked into the way housing works, and those patterns need to change.

That’s why events like this matter. They bring decision-makers, community leaders, and professionals into the same room. They push the conversation forward. And they reflect the kind of work REsolve shows up for: honest, community-centered, and focused on long-term impact.

Supporting an event like this is part of how we contribute to solutions. We believe community development, land use planning, and equitable housing policy are issues that should include the voices of those directly impacted.

AREAA San Diego Housing Policy Event

San Diego is at a turning point. Housing costs continue to rise, while policy often lags behind the needs of the people most affected. This event creates space to talk openly about what needs to change and who should be involved in shaping that change.

Speakers include:

Conversations will focus on policies that influence how people access housing, from land use and credit access to housing authority programs, market regulations, and fair housing enforcement. These are the structures that shape who gets to build equity and who gets left out.

For professionals in the industry, staying informed about housing policy makes a direct impact. It allows us to better guide clients through programs and opportunities they may not know about. It helps us adapt to changes in the market driven by new legislation. And it positions us to be part of removing barriers that have kept too many communities from fully participating in homeownership.

At REsolve, this is part of the work. We believe that access and opportunity should not be determined by who you know or where you start. Supporting this event is one more way we stay involved in the policy conversations that affect our clients, our neighborhoods, and our city. Housing equity begins with education, collaboration, and people who are willing to stay at the table when the decisions are being made.

Why REsolve Is Involved

Daniel’s connection to AREAA didn’t begin with a speaking invitation or a sponsorship. It started with a conversation. A few years ago, he was introduced to an AAPI agent who later connected him with an AREAA leader. That relationship grew over time, built on shared values and a shared understanding of what community investment looks like in practice.

Daniel is not part of the AAPI community himself, and that’s exactly why this event is so meaningful. Housing equity isn’t a niche issue. It’s not limited to one group or one part of the city. When one community is shut out of opportunity, it affects the health and stability of the region as a whole. REsolve believes that supporting equity means standing with those who are leading efforts to open doors for others, not just when it’s convenient or expected, but when it counts.

This event aligns with the work REsolve is already doing every day. That includes helping people protect the equity they’ve built in their homes, advocating for solutions that make housing more accessible, and showing up for communities that are shaping the future of San Diego.

REsolve doesn’t do this work alone, and we don’t believe anyone should have to. Events like this one create space to learn from each other, to ask better questions, and to find real, local solutions together.

Moving Forward, Together

San Diego’s housing challenges won’t be solved in a single evening. But progress begins when people from different corners of the city come together with the shared belief that better is possible.

REsolve believes the most lasting change happens when community leads. That’s why we support conversations that bring lived experience, expertise, and policy to the same table. We’re proud to stand alongside the people doing the work to shape a more just and accessible future.

We hope to see you there!
